Once, i was thinking. Which come first? maturity comes with age? maturity comes with knowledge? maturity comes with experience? or does knowledge comes with maturity? experience comes with maturity? maturity comes with maturity? hurm..

Then i was expecting an open discussion in Islam: Knowledge and Civilization class about this. But, as usual, seeing how enthusiastic Abdul Razak Abdullahi Hasyi giving the lecture riped with abysmal terms… I just can’t.

I’m a man. Male. (Yes i am!) Yet i can’t deny the fact that most of us male is not male in its pure form and essence. I do agree with AFH, male has nature gift, stronger than woman. As it is stated “arijalu qawwamuna ‘alannisa’ “(recheck verse and sura). I, myself, of no quality to be a mufassir, sees this verse reflecting that : “You men are build physically and mentally stronger, and your job is to be the umbrella of your female kin, your moms, sisters, aunts, grandmas, wives et al”

But, most of us men has yet to reach that quality. And to make it worse, fails to even give it a meaningful and worthful attempt. Discipline is a scrap. Time is deficit. Spent for other means.

Maturity is a qualitative manifestation of Iman. I think so. And maturity comes with knowledge. As knowledge ages with age, and as experience also comes with age, I conclude that maturity comes with knowledge of age and experience. The more you learn, the mature you are.

Mature men should first start to think of their mom. Be a good son. A good son is the summary of being a good servant, a good student, a good husband, a good everything.

I pray that I am a good son. I hope I am. I hope I will. I hope I was. I hope for us. Amen.
